This book has a built in search engine and also is compatible to copy and paste texts to common
Word-processing & desktop publishing packages. Please read through the
following instructions to understand its features and also to make use of
its functionality.
This function is in order to enable larger window view
of the results. Click on the arrows to hide/show
the contents, also it is advised to Hide
Contents whilst printing, as the contents frame will
appear in the output.
Option
Buttons
These
functions are restricted for The Qur'an Online. They
(from left to right):

Print (this function prints
the pages direct without printing the rest of the
window)
Use the Text Search
Function to view keywords within the Qur'an. You can
search for both English and Arabic words. It also gives a
result count of items found.
The results are
listed in the main window. To view the pages of the
results simply click on the Title of the Page (highlighted in
Blue). To go back to the
results list click the back button on the options-menu.

Verse Search
To go direct to a
verse simply type in the verse reference.
Format: e.g 3.102 or
5:44 - You may use either . (full-stop) or : (colon) to
separate.
Select this from the
options-menu. When the Search Tab is clicked the Basic Search
function is the default. This has a quick search facility.
It accepts both English and Arabic Typescript input.

Simply reloading the page, rather than restarting the browser,
maybe sufficient under some browser versions.

Windows XP
How to enable Arabic
language support in Windows XP
1. Click on the start and go to Settings - Control Panel
2. Open the Regional and Language Options applet
3. On the Languages Tab check the "Install the file for complex script and right
to left languages" checkbox to select it
4. Click OK
5. Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD when prompted and allow installation to
complete
6. Restart the computer when prompted to do so
To install another language and keyboard layout in Windows XP, follow
these steps:
1. In the Windows XP standard
Start menu, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Regional and Language Options.
3. Click the Languages tab, and then click Details under "Text Services and
Input Languages".
4. Click Add under "Installed Services", and then click the language you want to
add and the keyboard layout you want to use for that language.
5. To configure the settings for the Language bar, click Language Bar under
"Preferences".
Windows 2000
To add an additional language in Windows 2000, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to
Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Regional Settings.
3. Click the General tab, click to select the check box next to the appropriate
language group you wish to install, and then click Apply.
The system will either prompt
for a Windows 2000 CD-ROM or access the system files across the network. Once
the language is installed, Windows 2000 will prompt you to restart the computer.
To enable a newly added language and specify a keyboard layout in Windows
2000, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to
Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Regional Settings.
3. Click the Input Locales tab.
4. In the Input Locales box, click the appropriate language, and then click
Properties.
5. In the Keyboard Layout box, click the appropriate keyboard layout, click OK,
and then click OK.
Windows NT. 4.0
You can add, enable, and configure support for multiple languages using the
Regional Settings tool in Control Panel. You can also add some languages that
are not listed in the Regional Settings tool from the Windows CD-ROM.
To add an additional language in Windows NT 4.0, follow these steps:
1. In the Langpack folder on
the Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM, right-click <language>.inf, and then click Install.
NOTE: Some languages require files from the I386 folder as well as the Langpack
folder. If you are prompted for the location of a file that is not in the
Langpack folder, specify the I386 folder and then return to the Langpack folder
the next time you are prompted for a file.
2. Restart your computer.
To enable a newly added
language and specify a keyboard layout in Windows NT, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Regional Settings.
3. On the Regional Settings tab, click the appropriate language, and then click
Apply.
4. Click the Input Locales tab.
5. In the Input Locales box, click the appropriate language, and then click
Properties.
6. In the Keyboard Layout box, click the appropriate keyboard layout, click OK,
and then click OK.
Mac
Users
1. Make sure you have the Arabic version of Mac OS, or the Latin version with
the Arabic Language Kit. In the latter case, make sure that the active script is
Arabic.
2. In the browser preferences (either Navigator, Communicator, IE) select the
User Defined Encoding. You have also to select Arabic fonts for this encoding.
This will enable you to view Arabic text that is compliant with the Arabic
Macintosh Code Page.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to view the Arabic text encoded for Windows
machines (1256, Sakhr, etc). In such a case your last resort is to use Cyberdog,
which is an
Apple product, and can be
downloaded from Apple sites.
Before you download Cyberdog you have to install OpenDoc, the technology that
Cyberdog is based on. OpenDoc is also free and downloadable from Apple sites.
Using Cyberdog will enable you to view Arabic Web content no matter what the
underlying encoding is.
